‘Best decision I made in my life’ - 28y/o ETH called ‘really good player’ insists he has no regret leaving Man Utd

Brazil international midfielder Andreas Pereira called time on his 11-year association with Manchester United in July 2022 to join Fulham.

He has now revealed that leaving the Red Devils was the best decision of his life.

The 28-year-old – who was dubbed ‘a really good player’ by manager Erik ten Hag in March – struggled to establish himself as a regular at the club, spending most of his time on loan at Granada, Valencia, Lazio and Flamengo.

Pereira joined Man United in 2011 as a youth player from PSV Eindhoven before making his debut in August 2014. He left after making 75 first-team appearances.

He has since featured in 82 games for Fulham after just two seasons and is loving life at the Craven Cottage club.

“I think it was the best decision I made in my life,” the midfielder says about leaving Man United.

“To come to live and play here, to enjoy my football, to get back into the national team with great players, to enjoy my football in the Premier League, leaving is the best decision I made.

“The time I was there, I really enjoyed being at a fantastic club. But I don’t regret leaving. We [the players in my situation] have this desire to show it was wrong that we didn’t play.”

Pereira featured in 37 of Fulham’s 38 league games last season and has played seven times for his country this year after being recalled to the national team after six years.

He scored four times and assisted five times while with the Red Devils but has weighed in with eight goals and 15 assists since joining Fulham.

Playing regularly means the move to London has paid off for Pereira, and how he feels after leaving Man United is understandable.

He could not cut it at the Theatre of Dreams given those ahead of him in the pecking order and he will hope to keep convincing everyone of his quality next season and beyond.
