Rishabh Pant, Navdeep Saini, Harshit Rana- Feature in Inaugural of Delhi Premier League
Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) chief and league president Rohan Jaitley has said that Rishabh Pant, Navdeep Saini and Harshit Rana are set to feature in the inaugural session of Delhi Premier League, which is set to begin after the mid of this month.
The tournament, containing both men and women’s matches, will be held in the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The auctions for the league has been done last Sunday and by the end, six men’s team had ma a sales of Rs 49.65 crore.
“Rishabh Pant, Navdeep Saini, Harshit Rana and other Indian players will feature in the inaugural season of DPL. I had a talk with Rishabh Pant and he has promised me to participate in the league but it only depends on his availability and national commitments. But as of now, he will be playing. Navdeep and Harshit will also feature in the league,” said Jaitely.
The inauguration ceremony has a record of 270 players all across Delhi. This record contains national players, U-23 and U-19.
Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag, who is also the brand ambassador of the game, showed his excitement about the league and said that it is a great chance for cricketers who did not get a chance in IPL or national team.
“The league will surely be a fantastic opportunity to those players who work hard in the nets and didn’t get a chance in any major tournament. When I used to play in my younger days we didn’t get this type of opportunity to play in different leagues. Now my son is playing I am glad that he will be getting those opportunities, so yes it is a very great opportunity,” he said.
The first session will feature total of 40 matches, with men’s category having 33 matches and women’s category having 7 matches.
DPL will feature 6 franchises- West Delhi Lions, North Delhi Strikers, South Delhi Superstarz, Purani Delhi-6, Delhi Kings, and East Delhi Riders.
