Pro-Palestine protest to take place in Limassol

A pro-Palestine protest is set to take place in Limassol on Saturday, planned to coincide with the “International day of action for Gaza and the prisoners”.

The protest’s organisers, United for Palestine Limassol, urged people to “join the European alliance in condemning the repression, torture, and enforced disappearances of Palestinian detainees.”

“We reject these inhumane practices violating international human rights standards. Secret prisons, enforced disappearances, and torture by the occupation authorities are grave violations which demand immediate international intervention,” they said.

They added, “we mourn the martyrs who suffered from mistreatment and call for justice and freedom for all Palestinian detainees.”

The organisers also listed four demands: “the genocide must stop”, “the occupation of Palestine must end”, “Israel must be held to account for its war crimes”, and “the Cypriot government must protect its citizens, act morally, and stop accommodating those on the wrong side of history.”

The protest will begin at 8pm at the Molos amphitheatre.
