Amidst the increasing number of reports linking Dominic Solanke with a move to Tottenham, we have decided to dig into some articles from earlier in the summer that shed a light on how much the striker is expected to cost.

Tottenham are interested in Dominic Solanke

Fabrizio Romano revealed on Thursday that Spurs could turn their attention to Solanke as they continue their quest to sign a top-class number nine before the new campaign gets underway.

Romano’s update was backed up this morning by Alasdair Gold, who revealed that the Lilywhites have liked the 26-year-old for a while but he insisted that the deal would not be easy to do and that the player will not come cheap.

How much will Solanke cost?

Back in April, Football Insider revealed that Bourmeouth valued the centre-forward at around £50m.

The outlet claimed that West Ham had expressed an interest in Solanke and that the Hammers had been informed that they had to pay the aforementioned amount to get him out of the Vitality Stadium.

However, this was subsequently contradicted by The Athletic, who revealed in June that the striker has a release clause of £65m in his contract.

It is said that the south coast outfit would only let the Englis international leave the Vitality Stadium if the clause is activated.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am in the minority of Spurs fans who would be chuffed with the signing of Solanke as I believe he is a fantastic all-round number nine, who would be an excellent fit for Postecoglou’s system.

However, I do not see Tottenham paying £65m for the 26-year-old.

Only Erling Haaland, Cole Palmer and Alexander Isak scored more goals in the English top flight last season, than Solanke.

Regardless of his impressive last campaign, spending £60-odd million on Solanke would be a gamble.
