Free shuttle in Alameda will run through September

New Island Hopper shuttle travels around Alameda Point and to the new Oakland Alameda Water Shuttle. Free shuttle will run through September.

If you’re looking to check out some of the wineries, restaurants and watering holes on Alameda Point, the city of Alameda is offering free transportation to get there.

The Island Hopper, a weekend shuttle that supplements AC Transit Line 96, runs every 10-20 minutes between noon and 7:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

It connects riders with Alameda Point, Spirits Alley businesses, the Main Street Ferry Terminal, and the new Oakland-Alameda Water Shuttle.

The shuttle began running last weekend and will continue for 10 weeks until Sunday, Sept. 29. There are three shuttle routes: the green Alameda Point route, the blue Ferry route, and the yellow Water Shuttle route.

The Island Hopper is ADA accessible, and bicycles are welcome.
