Grain and Glass nature trail opens in West Glenville

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- In a collaborative effort between two breweries in Glenville, the Grain and Glass Trail opened to the public on Thursday, July 1. The new trail links the Wolf Hollow Brewing Company at 6882 Amsterdam Road, and Murray's Fools Distilling Company at 7152 Amsterdam Road, in a mile-long loop through surrounding woods.

The Grain and Glass Trail is part of a network of trails throughout Glenville. According to Discover Schenectady, a large portion of the trails are available year-round and snowshoe rentals during the winter are available at Wolf Hollow Brewing.

"The new Grain and Glass Trail offers a unique way to experience the Schenectady Sips Craft Beverage Trail," Cathy Gatta, president of the Discover Schenectady board of directors and Schenectady County legislator, said in a statement. "This mile-long loop not only connects Wolf Hollow Brewing and Murray’s Fools Distilling, but also expands our existing network of trails, highlighting the natural beauty of the area and providing new opportunities to enjoy the outdoors year-round right here in our backyard."

"Wolf Hollow Brewing is excited to connect our trails with our neighbors at Murray's Fools Distilling,” Pete Bednarek, Co-owner of Wolf Hollow Brewing Company said in a statement. “The combination of trails offers a fantastic opportunity for visitors to enjoy the natural beauty of West Glenville and sample the fine beverages that are crafted here. We’re looking forward to hosting even more new activities on site, along with serving quality craft beverages for people to enjoy in our tasting rooms."

Sarah Callan Beach, co-founder and owner of Murray's Fools Distilling Company agreed with Bednarek. According to Beach, the project embodies community and outdoor adventure but also promotes enjoyment of both businesses' products.

Both of the companies are part of Schenectady Sips Craft Beverage Trail. Digital passports for Schenectady Sips are available on the Discover Schenectady website and are available for all businesses, only the breweries or only the distilleries and meadery.
