Poughkeepsie man arrested on a felony drug charge

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- A Poughkeepsie man was arrested in connection to a drug sale investigation, according to the Dutchess County District Attorney's Office Drug Task Force. Leon Scott, 54, was arrested on Winnikee Avenue on Thursday.

The Drug Task Force has been working an investigation into the sale of cocaine and other drugs in the city. Agents reportedly purchased drugs from Scott multiple times during their investigation.

As a result, a search warrant for Scott and a residence on Corlies Avenue was issued. Scott was taken into custody and agents responded to the Corlies Avenue residence to execute the search warrant.

Charges:

  • Criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony.

Multiple additional charges related to the investigation are pending, according to the Task Force. Shortly after his arrest, Scott was transported to Poughkeepsie City Court. He was then remanded to the Dutchess County Jail where he's being held without bail.

The search warrant for Scott was executed by the Drug Task Force and members of the City of Poughkeepsie Neighborhood Recovery Unit. The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office Emergency Services Unit assisted in his arrest.
