My ‘sly’ neighbour tried to kill my tree – it doesn’t even reach over to his garden, I’m fuming
A WOMAN has been left outraged after a “sly” neighbour tried to kill her tree by drilling a hole in it – in a row over leaves.
She claims the large tree in the back garden of her council property doesn’t encroach into the neighbour’s garden.

But she was still stunned to discover he’d taken drastic action against the tree by drilling a hole in it.
Posting on the Garden Makeover Ideas on a Budget Facebook group, which boasts 723,000 members, the devastated woman asked: “Any idea if I can save this tree?
“Sly neighbour drilled a hole in it to kill it.
“It’s over 60-years-old and not encroaching his garden just because leaves blow in [it].
“He tried [to] hide hole behind it. It’s council property not near his garden.
“Been reported to council, they are dealing with it. Been there all these years not a problem with any surrounding properties.”
And social media users have been left just as outraged over the stunt, blasting the “horrible” neighbour.
One said: “They should at least have spoken to you ! You can’t just go around killing trees.”
A second fumed: “That really is a horrible thing to do!”
A third added: “I know with fruit trees if you knock in a rusty nail it brings them back to life so they fruit?”
Meanwhile, a fourth asked: “How big is the hole?
“It looks like a healthy tree, unless it’s a really big hole it will probably survive. Think about tree surgeons cuts, the tree heals itself by growing a scar over it.”
And a fifth raged: “I really don’t like some people.”
It comes after a mum revealed her neighbour ‘borrows’ her garden every time she goes on holiday – and even wants to host her son’s BIRTHDAY party there.
She said: “I am absolutely baffled by the audacity that someone would do this and then be mad about it, without ever even having a conversation with me.”
