Manhattan officials to select new city manager

MANHATTAN (KSNT) - City leaders in Manhattan will be voting soon to appoint a new city manager this month.

Andrew Lawson with the City of Manhattan said in a press release that city commissioners will cast votes Tuesday, Aug. 6 to appoint Danielle Dulin as the ninth city manager. She is slated to start work in the position on Monday, Oct. 14 following the vote.

The City of Manhattan selected Dulin following a national search for prospective candidates to fill the vacancy left by former City Manager Ron Fehr following his retirement. A large pool of candidates were used by city officials to narrow down who should fill Fehr's shoes.

“The process went smoothly, and we were very pleased with SGR’s services," said Mayor Susan E. Adamchak. "The high quality of our candidate pool speaks to Manhattan’s tremendous appeal."

Dulin has more than a decade of experience in municipal leadership from the Kansas City area. She is currently serving as city manager for Warrensburg. She also served as assistant to city managers in Lenexa, Prairie Village and Mission Hills.

“I am honored to be selected as the next City Manager for Manhattan,” Dulin said. “I am excited to bring my passion for local government and commitment to improving the quality of life for all residents in Manhattan. I look forward to working with the City Commission, the City team, and our community partners to build on our success and secure our future. Additionally, we are thrilled to be moving back to the Sunflower State to be closer to our families.”

Lawson said Dulin earned her bachelor's degree in economics from Kansas State University. She also holds a master's degree in public administration from the University of Kansas.

“Our community will benefit from Danielle’s extensive experience and dynamic leadership," Adamchak said. "I’m excited to work with her.”

Manhattan city commissioners will consider a formal contract of employment when they meet at 6 p.m. on Aug. 6 at City Hall located at 1101 Poyntz Avenue.
