ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The restaurant industry is ever-changing with restaurants opening, closing, relocating, or just doing their thing. Here’s a recap of the latest Capital Region restaurant news, July 29 through August 2.

Slick’s in Schenectady getting new owners as Naumoffs retire (again)

After almost 50 years, Michael and Barbara Naumoff, the owners of Slick’s Restaurant & Tavern in Schenectady, are retiring. However, the tavern is staying open under new ownership.

Schuylerville diner gets new owner, new name

Sweeney’s, located at 106 Broad Street in Schuylerville, is now under new ownership and has a new name. Ashley Comeaux, who has been a waitress there for over a year, has taken over and renamed the restaurant to Mama Bear’s Diner.

Capital Region restaurant inspections: July 22-26

These are the inspections from July 22 to 26 reported by the NYSDOH divided up by critical violations, non-critical violations, and no violations. You can find a list of all restaurant inspections for the last several years on the NYSDOH website.

Averill Park restaurant reopens under new ownership

In June, the art non-profit Arts Letters & Numbers announced that it had bought La Perla Restaurant and Gregory House Country Inn in Averill Park. The Italian restaurant reopened on Monday after being closed for a little over a month.

Buca di Beppo in Colonie closes after 24 years

The Italian restaurant chain Buca di Beppo has closed the doors to its Colonie location. A statement from Buca di Beppo sent to NEWS10 confirmed the closure.

Ninety Nine Restaurant in Colonie set to close

The Ninety Nine Restaurant & Pub at 107 Wolf Road in Colonie is set to permanently close its doors. The restaurant will be closing as of Sunday, August 11.

South Glens Falls restaurant under new ownership

After 33 years, the Peppermill Family Restaurant has new owners. Jennie and Chris Dore officially took over the restaurant on July 12.

Juice bar celebrates grand opening in downtown Albany

Blend & Brew, located in the Omni Building at 54 State Street, held its grand opening with the Downtown Albany Business Improvement District on Wednesday. The juice and smoothie bar had its soft opening in May.

New ice cream shop opens in Rensselaer

Mega Cone Ice Cream Shop in Rensselaer had its grand opening ribbon cutting with the Rensselaer County Regional Chamber of Commerce on August 1. The shop had its soft opening on June 28.

Participating restaurants for Troy’s annual Pig Out

Downtown Troy’s 18th annual Pig Out is set for August 18 from noon to 5 p.m. The event features barbecue vendors with samples from $4 to $5, live music, and a hot dog eating contest.

Wendy’s set to open in former Catskill Pizza Hut

The former Pizza Hut building at 75 Maple Avenue will be vacant no more. The Yum & Chill Restaurant Group had the site plans approved by the Village of Catskill Planning Board to open a Wendy’s in that location.
