NEW YORK (PIX11) --- Football season just got a bit tastier for New York Jets fans.

The franchise has teamed up with hundreds of New York City area McDonald's for the "Sacks for Big Macs" promotion during this season, the Jets announced on Friday.

When the Jets' defense sacks the quarterback, fans will be eligible for a free Big Mac with a minimum $2 purchase on the McDonald's app, according to the team. Fans can also snag the chain's signature sandwich during training camp on Saturday and Aug. 21.

App customers will also have access to special ticket offers, The deal will be offered at around 520 McDonald's restaurants in the New York City area.

While fans will rlewy onthe Jets' defense to score a Big Mac, the team's offense may be without star quarterback Aaron Rodgers during the preseason. Rodgers missed last season with a torn Achillies tendon.

Coach Robert Saleh said Tuesday his “instinct” is to keep the 40-year-old quarterback on the sideline for all three of the Jets’ preseason games this summer. But Saleh also left open the possibility of Rodgers playing in the finale against the Giants on Aug. 24.
