Man accused of tying dog to pole on Southern State charged: police

NEW YORK (PIX11) – A man accused of tying a dog to a light pole on the Southern State Parkway on Long Island has been arrested weeks after she was found abandoned there, police said Friday.

Glenroy Bramble, 65, was charged on Thursday with abandoning an animal and failing to provide appropriate shelter for a dog.

State Troopers rescued Roxi, a 4-year-old female Mastiff, near Exit 21 of the busy highway around 5:30 a.m. on July 1. Roxi had a note with her, police said at the time.

“This is ‘Roxi,’ a trained American Bullmastiff. She is four years old. She has been fed and given a flea bath, she may still have issues with them. See that she gets good care,” read the note.

Roxi now lives with a couple on Long Island. When the story of Roxi's abandonment hit the news, the shelter was inundated with dozens of calls from people who wanted to adopt her.

John and Sandy Reeve were chosen to give Roxi a new home.

This story comprises reporting from PIX11's Emily Rahhal.
