Fox News panelist blasts Vance's 'chameleon' dig: You called Trump 'America's Hitler'

Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) is in no position to lecture Vice President Kamala Harris about her identity, Fox News' resident Democratic strategist Jessica Tarlov said on Friday's edition of "The Five."

This comes as Vance, the running mate of former President Donald Trump, defends the former president for his explosive comments at the National Association of Black Journalists, in which he questioned Harris' racial identity.

“Look, all he said is that Kamala Harris is a chameleon,” Vance told reporters while visiting the southern border in Cochise County, Arizona. “She is everything to everybody, and she pretends to be somebody different depending on which audience she is in front of. I think it’s totally reasonable for the president to call that out, and that’s all he did.”

Vance gave as examples the fact that Harris spent her teen years in Canada and the fact that she engaged in verbal code-switching at her recent rally in Atlanta.

None of this sat right with Tarlov, who pointed out to her Fox co-hosts that Vance's entire political brand was rebuilt as MAGA from the ground up when he wanted to run for Senate in Ohio, and that just a few years before that, he was comparing Trump to a Nazi.

"J.D. Vance calling Kamala Harris a 'chameleon,' when he's now running with a man who he said might be 'America's Hitler,' is beyond comprehension," said Tarlov.

All of this comes at a moment when Harris, who secured enough votes Friday to win the Democratic nomination, is expected in the next couple of days to announce her own running mate in the 2024 presidential race.
