Tom Lake Way Opening

It was a fitting day of remembrance for Pte Tom Lake of the 1st Battalion Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment at the official opening of Tom Lake Way in South Oxhey.

Serving Princess Of Wales Royal Regiment soldiers currently based at Woolwich barracks were joined by Veterans including some who were alongside Tom on that dreadful day, the Royal Marines, the Royal Navy and RAF personnel as Watford Parish Council formally opened and named Tom Lake Way.

Mr & Mrs Mallett also attended and represented the Hertfordshire FA as we honoured Jets former footballer Tom.

Colonel Ross Noott paid tribute to Tom before Tom’s Mum Carol lifted the Union Flag to reveal the road name and the smile as she saw her son’s everlasting tribute was clear.

Petty Officer James Jones RN & Colour Sgt Stephen Steve Saleh RM were joined by the Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment in receiving a cheque from the Watford Rural Parish Council which was added to the Poppy Appeal bringing this season’s total to £4,676.51. What an amazing achievement.

A big thank you also to Wenzels the Bakers in supporting the day so well.
