Shawnee County Parks & Recreation gives back as summer winds down
TOPEKA (KSNT) - Shawnee County Parks and Recreation is wrapping up the summer by giving back.
Parks and Rec staff members spent today handing out water bottles and other fun items around the trails, parks, and aquatic centers as a way to thank the community for coming out and using their facilities.
"There's just so much to do outside," Shawnee County Parks and Recreation Communications Supervisor Sean Zears said. "And we're just really proud to be able to give that the people of Shawnee County that opportunity."
Pool season is coming to an end for 2024 in Shawnee County. Shawnee County Parks & Rec. announced Monday most of its pools will close for the swimming season on August 5th.
Staff members will finish out their giving back day tour at Lake Shawnee on August 16th.
