Angel City FC will meet Gotham FC in Summer Cup semifinals

Angel City finished third among the five group winners in the 20-team NWSL/Liga MX tournament, while Gotham finished second, setting up a third meeting between the teams on Tuesday in Kansas City.

Angel City Football Club will face NY/NJ Gotham FC in the first semifinal of the NWSL x Liga MX Femenil Summer Cup on Tuesday.

The game will be played at CPKC Stadium, home of the Kansas City Current with a 2 p.m. start time.

Angel City finished as the third group winner and Gotham finished second thanks to its 3-0 victory over Chivas de Guadalajara on Friday. Both teams finished with eight points, Angel City went 2-0-1 with a penalty kick win in Group B and Gotham also went 2-0-1 in Group E, but finished with a goal differential of +4.

The second semifinal of the 20-team tournament will feature the top-seeded Current (nine points) and fourth-seeded North Carolina Courage (seven points) at 6 p.m.

The winners will meet in the final on Oct. 25.

Angel City will try to avoid a third defeat this season against Gotham. Gotham won the first meeting, 2-1, on June 8 and by the same score on July 6.
