Dean Nayler is another promising player to emerge from the successful Dartford Academy.
Having recently been signed to the First Team by Adrian Pennock, the 18-year-old defender intends to bring additional energy to the squad, while trying to win battles and putting his body on the line for the team.
With his versatility at being able to play at right-back, right-wing-back, and centre-back, the right-footed youngster has impressed Ady and his coaches during pre-season, having become the go-to right-back in recent games.
Yet despite his tender age, Dean does have some experience of first team football to latch onto, having spent last season playing for the Corinthian’s men’s team as well as his Dartford Academy commitments.
And, it’s his link to the Academy that holds a special place in Dean’s heart…
“I’ve been playing at Dartford for the last 8-9 years Chris, progressing through the Pre-Academy into the Academy. This club means a lot to me, as being in the Academy for the last two years has enabled me to develop my abilities on the pitch, as well as growing a better understanding of the game. It has helped me to progress into the First Team.”
It’s within the Dartford First Team that Dean really intends on establishing himself, as he shares his delight at having been signed…
“I initially found out before the game against Sutton United (that Ady wanted to promote him). I spoke to Ady, and he told me what he expects of me. I’m extremely happy to be given this opportunity to play for the club at First Team level. It has been my goal since joining the Academy, and I intend to grasp it with both hands and continue working hard throughout the season.”
Such words are what Dartford supporters want to hear, especially as Ady is rebuilding a squad that will fight for the badge on the shirt they’re wearing. And, Dean has a message for those supporters as well…
“Please stick with us throughout the season. Your support is vital to our success and means a lot.”
