Man arraigned on arson charges after Jamestown fire injures victim

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- A 34-year-old homeless man was arraigned Thursday for allegedly starting a fire in Jamestown that seriously injured one, the Chautauqua County District Attorney's Office announced.

It is alleged that Eric Courtier started a fire at 234 Fulton St. that caused serious injuries to the victim, who is also homeless and was sleeping upstairs, officials said.

There was significant damage to the building, which was a condemned house that was under the authority of the Jamestown Department of Development, according to the DA's office.

Courtier was indicted on the charges of first-degree arson and second-degree arson.

The case is scheduled for a conference on Aug. 26.
