Plex
First on our list is Plex – a big name in streaming, but one you might have missed.
That’s because Plex started life as a way to share personal content you’d saved to a screen of your choice.
This meant you could create a “personal Netflix” with your own saved media.
But in late 2019, Plex launched its own ad-supported streaming service.
This is now one of the most popular free TV apps out there, and with good reason.
Plex has a frankly gargantuan library of more than 1,100 channels (with over 800 available in the U.S.).

Amazon Freevee
Another great – but easily missed – option is Amazon Freevee.
There are several reasons why you might have missed it.
For a start, it’s available inside Amazon Prime Video (normally a paid service), so you might not notice that there’s Freevee content in there too.
But it’s also available as a standalone download.
However, it was previously called IMDb Freedive and IMDb TV, and only changed to Freevee in April 2022.
