BBC forced to apologise as coach shouts expletive LIVE on air during Olympics coverage from Paris

THE BBC were forced to apologise after a coach was caught swearing on camera during the decathlon.

German athlete Leo Neugebauer underwhelmed with his final discus throw at Stade de France and sparked a furious reaction from his coach, Jim Garnham.

Just as the camera panned over to him, Garnham could be seen saying: “Ah f***!”

Luckily for the BBC, the expletive could not be heard live on air.

But commentators were quick to apologise regardless, with one person saying: “There we go, expletives. Sorry everybody! Hopefully no lip readers viewing today.”

Despite his slip-up, Neugebauer recorded the second-best discus throw of the session with a distance of 53.33m.

He earned 940 points as a result.

Grenada’s Lindon Victor threw the furthest with 53.91m.

Neugebauer, one of the favourites for gold, led the decathlon rankings at the start of day two.

By the eighth event – pole vault – he retained his lead ahead of Victor and Puerto Rico’s Ayden Owens-Delerme.

Ahead of the Games, the German told GQ: “Just taking part in the Olympic Games has always been my dream and my biggest goal.

“That’s why I’m really looking forward to it.

“Especially because they’re taking place in Paris and my family and many of my friends can come and watch.

“The fact that I’m in really good shape at the moment and have the opportunity to compete at the top in Paris makes it even more special.”
