The Chair of the Democratic National Committee announced that Kamala Harris has secured enough delegate votes to become the official nominee for the presidential election.

The committee will not release the official results until the virtual voting process for delegates is complete.

On Friday, August 2, Jamie Harrison stated that Harris has achieved a majority of the Democratic delegate votes needed for nomination in the November election.

The online voting process will continue until Monday, but Kamala Harris’s campaign has confirmed that she has surpassed the required number of votes for nomination.

Kamala Harris, the Vice President under Joe Biden, is the first woman of color to run as the Democratic nominee in a U.S. presidential election.
