Huge pop star emerges as big favourite to sign up for Celebrity Big Brother
CELEBRITY Big Brother fans have started speculating over who might be entering the famous house.
One favourite heavily rumoured to be throwing his hat into the ring is Ronan Keating.
The Boyzone heartthrob recently quit Magic Radio after seven years behind the mic.
He said he was keen to spend more time with his family and was looking forward to returning to his music career.
But his free time has left fans wondering if he might give Big Brother a go after the show made a monumental comeback last year.
Betfred’s Kayley Cornelius said: “Following the announcement that Ronan Keating has decided to hang up his headphones at Magic Radio, there is now a growing speculation that he may be set to feature on next year’s series of Celebrity Big Brother.
“Punters are now heavily backing the popstar to feature on the hit reality TV show, with the early betting market favourite now priced at 4/2 to make an appearance on the show.
“With Ronan’s diary now freeing up, producers will undoubtedly be scrambling to try and secure the Irish popstar.”
Ronan’s former manager Louis Walsh certainly ruffled a few feathers throughout his time on the show.
He didn’t hold back when it came to sharing his thoughts on people within the industry – including his former protégé Ronan.
They clashed in the noughties after Ronan sacked Louis following the success of his solo career.
Louis called Ronan “a p****k” and said: “Ronan hasn’t had a hit record since he sacked me.”
Ronan was also secretly recorded on tape in 2006 where he ranted about Louis.
He hurt me, he really hurt me and he knows it,” he was heard saying.
“I don’t have any time for the guy. We’re a million miles from each other.
“I’ve no respect for Louis because he has none for me. He was very jealous of me.
“I had to sack him because he wouldn’t manage me.
“He’s a very selfish character. It’s bullsh** man. He’s a bullsh***er.”
Boyzone fans are hoping that Ronan will go on the show to set the record straight about what went down between him and Louis.
Kayley added: “Not only will he be a massive hit with the fans at home, but given that former manager Louis Walsh criticised him on the show earlier this year, many are keen to hear things from Ronan’s perspective, making the Big Brother house the ideal platform for him to share his story.”
Ronan was emotional as he left Magic, admitting that it was a difficult decision.
His team had planned a heartfelt surprise to honour his time at the station.
The presenter was ushered into the studio under the pretence of recording one final segment.
Instead, Ronan – who announced he was quitting last month – was greeted by dozens of staff who had gathered quietly in the room next door.
As Ronan entered, the room erupted into a loud applause and he joked they’d gathered to, “make sure I leave!”
Tears welled up in his eyes and Ronan hugged his co-host Harriet Scott before walking down the stairs, where he told the camera: “That was tough.
“I didn’t expect that to feel like that. How do I get out of here…”
The Irish popstar told how he’d had an “incredible” response from his breakfast show listeners, yet was eager to get back to “really important” moments of family time which he’d “missed”.
The Boyzone star gave a candid monologue as the show wrapped and said: “It’s been very difficult for me to come to this conclusion, and to make this decision.
“I wanted our listeners, our Magic Breakfast listeners and our Magic Radio listeners be the first to know that after seven years and so many incredible shows, I’ve decided to stand down from Magic Breakfast at the end of July.
“I have loved every single minute, this has not been an easy decision at all.”
