MONEY-SAVING METHODS

Redditor Username111312 was on a mission to smoothen her dry and oily combination skin with one shopping trip.

It seemed she had achieved her skincare goals and reduced blemishes without breaking the bank.

“I plan to stick with this routine and try it out. So far it’s been a week and I have been seeing great results compared to my old non-existent skincare routine,” she said.

“I have noticed a dramatic reduction in redness and irritation, and also less oil production near the end of the day with more consistent moisturizing hydration,” she continued.

“I wanted affordable and easy-to-buy products that contain common skincare ingredients that are most often sought for. Dollar Tree had them all.”

At $1.25 each, her five products in total, which gave her anti-aging results in both her morning and nighttime routines, set her back less than $7.

One of her favorites was the Skin Nutrition Botanicals Vitamin C Serum.

She shared how the serum “protects the skin during the day from free radicals and pollutants while also brightening and boosting collagen production.”

She also swore by the Creme De Skin Creations Retinol Night Serum she had picked up.

The shopper shared how the main ingredient helped to initiate skin cell turnover by “both promoting rapid exfoliation and stimulation of collagen and elastin.”

A jar of Global Beauty Care Hyaluronic Acid was also doing the reducing redness trick.

She was a fan of the cream’s “moisturizing/skin-flexibility and hydration barrier.”

Washing away her blemishes was also possible with her Just4U Oil-Free Acne Wash 2% Salicylic Acid.

She explained how the BHA in the form of salicylic acid helps open pores while exfoliating and stimulating the epidermis.

To give “special attention and care” to a “sensitive area that is often neglected” she opts for this eye serum – Skin Nutritions Age Defy Dark Circles and Puffiness Serum.

She noted how most of the items giving her eye-popping results also contained niacinamide, an ingredient known for stimulating collagen and keeping skin hydrated.

At the end of her routine, she always makes sure to apply an SPF 30+ mineral sunscreen.

RISE AND SHINE

If you want to keep up with this cutting-cost skincare guru, you can follow her morning routine which includes “gently” washing her face with a Dove Facial Cleansing Bar.

Make sure to pat your face dry with a clean microfiber cloth before applying the eye serum.

Her technique also includes applying one drop of vitamin C serum to her finger and spreading it around her five facial zones.

“Left cheek, right cheek, forehead, nose/chin, neck. Wait a little to soak in,” she said.

All she needed to complete her method was a pea-sized amount of Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Cream and her mineral sunscreen to rub on her face and neck.

REPEAT THAT

Her similar nighttime methods also worked fast.

While in the shower or at the sink, she washes her face with Salicylic Acid Wash using a facial wash pad/cloth.

She then repeats this morning routine step – drying her face with a microfiber cloth before adding eye cream.

This time she uses her retinol serum on her five facial zones and finishes with her hyaluronic acid moisturizing cream to the face and neck areas.

Others were also in awe of the “good stuff” she had found.

“I don’t think it’s necessary to spend a lot of money on skincare products, these seem to be trustworthy for basic care at the very least,” she said.

She noticed how in addition to not noticing any new acne flare-ups, her blemishes were also fading faster.

She attributed this to the “introduction of retinol and niacinamide, also antioxidants,” in the affordable products.

“Also sunscreen during the day, my face feels so much cooler and less irritated, I can be comfortable while driving or being in the sun!” she said.

The main active ingredients, after all, were known for combatting bacteria, inflammation and increased oil production.
