Aerosmith has announced that their touring days are officially behind them as lead singer Steven Tyler's "recovery from his vocal injury is not possible."

The band said in a statement on August 2 that its members made the "difficult, but necessary" decision to retire from touring after the 76-year-old front man fractured his larynx following a performance last fall.

The group said in a post shared on Instagram that Tyler had spent months working to get his voice back to how it had been.

"As you know, Steven's voice is an instrument like no other. He has spent months tirelessly working on getting his voice to where it was before his injury. We've seen him struggling despite having the best medical team by his side," the statement reads.

"Sadly, it is clear, that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible. We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision — as a band of brothers — to retire from the touring stage," it continues.

The band's website says that fans who bought tickets through Ticketmaster would be refunded.

The rock band, known for hits like "Dream On" and "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing," kicked off their "Peace Out: The Farewell Tour" in September 2023.

But they were soon forced to postpone a number of dates after Tyler suffered vocal cord damage during a performance, the Associated Press previously reported.

At the end of September 2023, the band postponed all shows until at least 2024, after it was discovered that Tyler had fractured his larynx.

The final show of the tour ended up being held on September 9, 2023, at the UBS Arena in New York.
