Foreign media have reported that most airlines have suspended their flights to Israel and Lebanon in response to heightened tensions in the Middle East.

According to Anadolu Agency’s report today, Saturday, August 3rd, global airlines such as United, Delta, British Airways, Swiss, Lufthansa, and Air India have canceled their flights in reaction to recent developments in the region.

These airlines from the Americas, Europe, and Asia have suspended flights to Israel and Lebanon due to security concerns following recent events in the Middle East, as per the report.

Al Arabiya had earlier reported, citing its correspondent in Israel, that most international flights to Israel have been canceled due to fears of imminent conflicts in the Middle East.

Updated visuals from “Flight Radar 24” on Friday, August 2nd, indicate no flights are operating in Israeli airspace, suggesting the closure of the country’s airspace.

International airlines have decided to cancel their flights to Israel and Lebanon following the killing of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, which has raised fears of broader conflicts. Reports suggest Iran’s anticipated retaliations against Israel have heightened security risks and affected airline operations.

Anadolu reported that United Airlines, which operates 14 weekly flights between New York and Israel, has suspended its flights to Israel until August 6.

Major airlines that have canceled their flights to Tel Aviv and Beirut include Delta Airlines from the United States, which has suspended its flights to Israel, and British Airways, which canceled its flights to the country on Thursday.

Swiss International Airlines has suspended its Zurich-Tel Aviv flights at least until August 8 due to crew and passenger safety concerns. Additionally, the suspension of Zurich-Beirut flights, initially scheduled to end on July 29, has been extended until August 12.

German airline Lufthansa announced it has halted its flights to Beirut and Tel Aviv until August 8 and 12, respectively, due to security concerns.

Air India has also canceled its flights to Tel Aviv until August 8 due to security concerns.

ITA Airways, Italy’s flag carrier, announced it has suspended its flights to Tel Aviv until August 6 due to geopolitical developments in the Middle East and to ensure passenger and crew safety.

According to the Polish news agency PAP, Poland’s national airline LOT has canceled eight flights to Lebanon and Israel, which were scheduled for August 3-4.

Escalating tensions in the Middle East have led numerous international airlines to suspend flights to Israel and Lebanon, reflecting heightened security concerns and potential risks to passenger safety.
