Last month, ringleader Roger Hallam was jailed for five years for bringing the M25 to a standstill.

Four other members were locked up for four years each for their part in the disruption, which cost the Met Police £1.1million.

The sentences sparked howls of protest from leftie commentators and celebs.

But a survey by the More in Common think-tank found 53 per cent reckon the prison terms were about right or too soft.

Only 27 per cent thought them too harsh.

Meanwhile, 51 per cent said Just Stop Oil is a “force for bad”.

A meagre 17 per cent think they are a “force for good”.

More in Common UK boss Luke Tryl said: “Time and again the public tells us that while they want politicians to take action on climate change, the actions of Just Stop Oil are doing nothing to build up support and instead just making people’s daily lives harder.

“That is why they support strong sentences that act as a deterrent.”

Previous Tory government political violence adviser Lord Walney called for Just Stop Oil to be banned like terror groups.
