Wheeler Dealers star Mike Brewer predicts recently discontinued motor will be worth £10,000 in just a few years
WHEELER Dealers host Mike Brewer has predicted a recently discounted motor will be worth a whopping £10,000 in a few years.
The car can be found across the UK and getting your hands on one now could see you make a killing in the future.
Mike claims owners of the first-generation Audi TT are not aware that models today are worth around £1,500 to £2,000.
Selling the sports car now could be a big mistake as Mike reckons a a five-figure sum of around 10,000 could be heading in their direction.
The star of the popular classic car restoration show made the prediction as he was asked to select his top used cars to purchase today in an interview.
Speaking to the Telegraph, Mike said: “Definitely a modern classic is a Mk1 Audi TT. The 225bhp model, that’s a really good car – a very good modern classic.
“People who have still got those today don’t realise they’re worth 15 hundred or two grand, maybe two-and-a-half-grand, some of them, but that car will be solid in years to come. People will be paying 10 grand for those in the future.”
The first generation TT was manufactured by the German marque between 1999 and 2005 before it was replaced by the second-generation in 2006.
The TT in 225 guise had an impressive 1.8-litre turbocharged engine.
The model was also fitted with quattro four-wheel drive and can achieve 0-60mph in 6.4 seconds.
Capable of 221bhp, motoring experts claim the TT has a top speed of a blistering 151mph.
The four-cylinder two-door coupe also comes with a six-speed gearbox and could travel 409 miles on a single tank.
Inside, the model had a chic interior with leather seats and an uncomplicated dash alongside a luggage capacity of 220 litres.
Motoring experts at Parkers claim the first-generation TT was around £27,775 brand new.
However, they also put second-hand car valuations at between £1,060 and £1,865 in line with Mike’s assessment.
AutoTrader, the leading marketplace for new and second-hand cars, has some TT models from the early noughties available for less than £3,000.
It comes as Mike has issued an urgent warning after revealing he was scammed.
He took to YouTube to explain details of what happened and how he was conned after selling a motor over the phone.
The petrolhead said a buyer used fake information to fraudulently buy a car from him.
He told his X followers: “We think we’ve been scammed not only once but possibly twice.
“Once by a customer who scammed somebody with their ID to buy a car but the second time quite possibly by the car provider.”
Mike explained how his One Automotive group had advertised a white VW Golf Mk7 GTD for just over £10,000.
