Head of UK teachers union NEU snapped with Palestinian activist who backed Hamas’ October 7 terror attack

THE HEAD of Britain’s biggest teachers union posed with a Palestinian activist who described the October 7 terror attack as a “bright day”.

Daniel Kebede, General Secretary of the NEU, is on an all expenses paid trip to Buenos Aires in Argentina to meet with other union chiefs.

He has been photographed smiling and posing with Saed Erziqat – the head of the Palestinian teachers union.

Mr Erziqat posted a Facebook statement backing the October 7 slaughter by Hamas.

He also called on governments to “supply the courageous Palestinian resistance” with cash.

He wrote: “A bright day written with letters of honour and fatherhood in the record of the Palestinian strong resistance.

“In the ‘Tofan Al-Aqsa’ the waters of hope have run through the body of the Islamic nation, the veins are wet, the consciences have been refreshed, the reward for resisting the worries has been received, and the conviction of our people that the restoration of the occupied lands is possible if there is a will and efforts are added.”

The message was posted on October 12 last year – less than a week after the terror attack.

Over 1,000 Israelis were murdered, hundreds taken hostage and men and women raped in the attack on October 7.

Gunmen clad all in black and wearing masks boarded paragliders to get over the border before attacking innocent revellers at the Supernova Music festival.

Others launched military style dawn raids on kibbutzes near the border – slaughtering entire families in their sleep.

An NEU spokeswoman said: “Daniel Kebede was personally not aware of these comments and does not hold this view.

“The General Secretary will be raising concerns with the General Union of Palestinian Teachers about the language used.

“The General Secretary is unequivocal in his condemnation of the abhorrent attacks and hostage takings carried out by Hamas on 7 October and we continue to call for the immediate, safe and unconditional release of all hostages.

“The NEU continues to add its voice to those around the world including the United Nations and the many countries including the US who are calling for a cease fire and an end to the atrocities that are being carried out by the Israeli Government in Gaza.”
