Police searching for vehicle in hit-and-run that left pedestrian dead

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- One person is dead after a hit-and-run near the Hilltop area.

Around 5:15 p.m. Saturday, police said, an adult pedestrian was crossing Sullivant Avenue in between Atlanta Drive and Dixie Court when they were struck by an oncoming Honda Pilot. According to police, the Honda Pilot hit the pedestrian in the left lane, causing them to fall into the right lane. Police said they were then hit again by a Jeep Cherokee.

According to police, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. They had not been crossing at a crosswalk, police said.

The Jeep Cherokee remained at the scene, but police said the Honda Pilot fled east after the incident.

The Honda Pilot is believed to be a blueish color with front right damage. The Accident Investigation Unit is actively investigating, and anyone with knowledge of the Honda Pilot or drive is encouraged to contact them at 614-654-4767.
