I unnecessarily spent $550 on skincare for my wife – my drugstore buys get similar anti-aging effects for hundreds less

A SKINCARE connoisseur has shared the drugstore picks that perform as well as luxury buys but at a fraction of the cost.

After dropping more than $550 on cosmetics for their wife, they admitted that inexpensive brands can work just as well depending on the ingredients.

Redditor Entechad shared the beauty tips and recommendations in a post.

They explained that after spending more than they’d like on skincare, they’ve learned that the best routine is an easy routine.

“You should keep it simple. I just spent $550 on ZO Skin Health products for my wife because that’s what she likes,” they said.

“So, was this necessary? Absolutely not. I know more about skincare than she does, but these different products are silky and have certain textures she likes.”

While their wife preferred expensive luxury lines for cosmetic elegance, they revealed more affordable drugstore picks that are “probably almost as effective.”

They recommended the $20 Vichy 89 Hyaluronic Acid Serum alongside an oral hyaluronic acid supplement.

Supplements, they explained, can offer a huge boost to skin elasticity.

“Verisol collagen is clinically proven to work. There is Besha Inc.. Powder and Trunature Healthy Skin Verisol capsules,” they said.

The $12 Gold Bond Age Renew Retinol Overnight Body & Face Lotion was their pick for wrinkle prevention.

The drugstore is formulated with built-in retinol and peptides for anti-aging.

Beauty fans gave the lotion rave reviews, with one woman calling it a “holy grail for any of us that need help as we age.”

“I started using Gold Bond products the last year or two when I saw people recommending them for different things,” she said.

“I started with one for crepey skin and then came across this one. Now, I keep at least two bottles on hand at all times and use them every night.

“My skin is more moisturized and smooth and I feel like it’s helping with the fine lines overall as well.”

“This cream is wonderful. It really does smooth out the crepey skin,” added another.

For sun protection, the Reddit user’s pick was the La Roche-Posay Anthelios UVmune sunscreen with SPF 50.

“This one is not readily available in the U.S.; it’s a European version, and it’s much better for the skin,” they said.

The sunscreen is available for $31.25 at French Pharmacy.

Other supplement favorites and antioxidants, they added, can go a long way to reduce existing wrinkles and imperfections.

“Cocoa Flavonoids like cocoavia can reduce the depth of crow’s feet. Astaxanthin may help with eye wrinkles,” they added.
