Pakistani media have reported the arrest of Ali Wazir, one of the founders of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement, by the police in this country.

According to reports, he was arrested on Friday, August 2nd, following a car accident involving his vehicle and a motorcycle, which resulted in an injured person being taken to the hospital.

However, some members of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement have demanded Ali Wazir’s release.

Despite the injured person reportedly being in good condition, a court in this country has sentenced Ali Wazir to six days in prison.

Previously, Ali Wazir, a former member of the Pakistani Parliament and a prominent Pashtun leader, was also arrested for allegedly making false propaganda against Pakistani government institutions. He was released from Karachi Central Jail in February 2023 after spending two years and two months in prison.

Meanwhile, the killing of Gulamand Wazir, a member of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement, in Islamabad has led to widespread reactions and protests by this movement in various cities across Pakistan.

These developments occurred amid heightened tensions in Pakistan, exacerbated by increased militant attacks.
