New US rule could ban airlines from charging parents to sit with kids

WASHINGTON, D.C.: The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has proposed a new rule to prevent airlines from charging parents extra fees to sit next to their young children.

Announced on August 1, the proposal requires U.S. and foreign carriers to seat children aged 13 or younger next to a parent or accompanying adult for free.
