I have been in several minds how to pitch today's blog about 'image'. It's been a harrowing week, what with a horrific murder spree in nearby Southport and then the sickening riots that ensued over several days in too many places (Blackpool included). Such events might have supplied any number of disturbing images had I chosen to write about bigoted thuggery. It's also nearly the anniversary (August 1945) of the dropping of  atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, events which also supplied horrendous and iconic images of previously unimaginable destruction.
