Amber Jo Rutter ROBBED in gold-medal shoot-out as replays show ‘incompetent’ judges’ error in Paris Olympics

AMBER JO RUTTER came agonisingly close to winning Team GB’s 11th gold medal of Paris 2024.

The Brit was involved in a thrilling skeet shooting shoot-out against Francisca Crovetto Chadid but lost in controversial circumstances.

Rutter, 26, was judged to have missed one of two shots but insisted that she had not missed the mark.

Replays showed she had clipped the skeet but Olympic rules do not allow decisions to be overturned.

Fans took to social media to complain about the judging.

One wrote: “That is so grossly unfair for Amber Jo Rutter. She hit them both.

“She loses out on a gold medal thanks to incompetent judging.”

Another posted: “Surely #GBR Amber Rutter has been absolutely robbed there? That’s so wrong.

“How can we all see in a replay a few seconds later that she’s hit the target, yet they don’t give her the point. #TeamGB #Paris2024.”

A third said: “Amber Rutter cheated out of Gold. Clear hit.”

Rutter’s silver comes just four months after she gave birth to her first child.

And she shrugged off her disappointment as she hugged son Tommy, who was draped in a Union Flag.

She is the first British woman to win an Olympic medal in skeet, having been denied the chance to compete in Tokyo over a positive coronavirus test.

Rutter was two shots behind Chadid but closed the gap to take the event to a shoot-out.

The women traded blows before Rutter was unfairly handed a miss.

That gave Chadid, 34, the opportunity to win gold with two hits and she held her nerve.

It was Chile’s first ever shooting medal at the Games.

The gold and silver medallists were involved in a verbal exchange after the shoot-out.
