Christina Hall’s Ex Josh Hall Breaks His Silence With a Much Different Perspective About Divorce

Josh Hall has finally broken his silence regarding his highly publicized split from HGTV star Christina Hall. Since the news broke, Christina has been airing their dirty laundry in public, making several allegations against her soon-to-be ex-husband, including that he’s nothing more than a glorified mooch. However, on Saturday, August 3, Josh took to Instagram to share his side of the story — or at least try to silence Christina’s side of the story.

On Instagram, Josh, whose current handle is “unbrokenjosh,” shared a photo with one of his dogs, both looking into the camera. He wrote, “I prefer privacy, especially during something as life-changing as a divorce I did not ask for. I will not publicly badmouth anyone as people have families, friends and others who respect and love them. Unfortunately, the internet is forever.” He continued, “We are real humans, this is our life, and I am not here to entertain people I don’t know with my private matters. Those details will be handled fairly behind closed doors with our respective counsels in due time. Those who know each of us know who we are.” (You can see the post HERE.)

This not-so-subtle tone policing of Christina’s reactions came after weeks of intense back-and-forth between the estranged couple, most notably on social media. On July 25, Christina accused Josh of taking $35,000 from a rental property bank account and transferring it to his personal account. These claims were made via her Instagram Story, where she stated, “I have worked my ass off to build this life for myself and my children and anyone who would try and take what they do not deserve/what they did NOT work for should be ashamed.” She added, “An insecure man with a large ego can sure try and derail you.” The day after, Hall posted stories of himself hanging out with Candace Owens and Amber Rose in Nashville, clearly trying to share something amidst all this privacy he’s requesting.

Moreover, Christina did not hold back when she mocked one of Josh’s Instagram posts. On Thursday, August 2, Josh had posted an image that featured the word “Hope” along with praying hands and blue heart emojis. Christina reposted the story with her own twist, saying, “I ‘HOPE’ she pays me millions more than what she’s already offered me,” adding praying hands and a stack of cash emojis.

A source later told People that Josh’s post was misunderstood and not directed at Christina. The photo was taken outside the City of Hope cancer facility, where Josh was visiting a terminally ill friend. The blue heart emoji was his way of showing support, as his friend is a member of law enforcement. Even if this is true, it does seem strange to post something about ‘hope’ two days after a very public divorce announcement, and some fans think it feels like a manipulative play to make Christina look bad for reacting to his comments.

Let’s back up for those who aren’t familiar with all the HGTV star drama. Christina Hall, formerly Christina El Moussa, rose to fame through the hit HGTV show Flip or Flop, which she co-hosted with her first ex-husband, Tarek El Moussa. After her split from El Moussa, Christina continued her television career with the spinoff series Christina on the Coast. In 2018, she married Ant Anstead, and the couple welcomed their son, Hudson, a year later. The two called it quits in 2021. Once the dust settled, Christina married Josh Hall, a former police officer turned realtor, in 2022. But as both of their social media accounts can attest, it’s a relationship that has soured quickly.

The couple’s divorce became public on July 16, with both Christina and Josh filing separate papers citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split. Central to their legal battle is the division of property and assets, particularly the rights to TV shows developed during their marriage. Given California’s community property laws and the absence of a prenuptial agreement, Josh could potentially secure rights to these lucrative projects that Christina got off the ground with the brand she built with her name.

As the dust settles on their tumultuous relationship, both Christina and Josh appear to be gearing up for a prolonged legal battle. Christina has resumed filming for her latest project, The Flip Off, which features her working alongside her first ex-husband, Tarek, and his new wife, Heather Rae El Moussa. Meanwhile, Josh seems to be focusing on his personal life and trying to lay low in what seem to be very serious (and very real) accusations about taking money from his soon-to-be ex-wife.
