Huge blow for soap star as his comedy series is sensationally dropped after just one series

COMEDY show Henpocalypse! – about a group of women on a hen do when an apocalyptic pandemic strikes – has been axed.

Despite casting Danny Dyer in a sensational cameo role, the show failed to take hold and, I can reveal, won’t be making it to series two.

The six-parter on BBC Two featured Danny in a string of dream sequences – dressed up as a sexy knight in one.

Creator Caroline Moran revealed that she had written Dyer into her script before he even knew the project existed.

She said: “There’s only one Danny Dyer. He’s fantastic.

“He was everything and more than I could’ve hoped for.

“I emailed him, begging, going, ‘You’re amazing, you’re a national treasure – what do you say?’ He was up for it.”

Almost a million viewers watched the 10pm show when it launched last August, but audiences soon fell back.

A BBC insider said: “It just didn’t get the audience figures to justify it returning.”

Alice’s meaty dilemma

THE boy band jetted off for an intensive 100 days of training in Korea for new BBC show The K-Pop Experience.

But the hardest part of the regime for Dear Alice wasn’t getting to grips with the dance moves or learning lyrics, but instead trying to come up with a band name.

The five-piece have revealed that it took hours of deliberation before they settled on the name of their favourite Seoul restaurant, which instead of serving up local delicacies, prides itself on its traditional British Beef Wellington.

Singer Dexter explained: “It was a painful experience to come up with a name. We got to a point where we really needed one, we got given a deadline, so we sat down in a long meeting and still we came up with nothing.

“So we decided to go out for dinner at our favourite local restaurant right near where we were staying, Dear Alice, and we were like, ‘That sounds like a good name’.”

The boys have high hopes that fans will get on board with their name – and their music – after the show.

He added: “We’re just looking forward to having our first fans, if we can have even one per cent of the success the boy bands before us have had, that would be insane.”

Join cast on the double

THE team behind Come Dine with Me is hunting for members of the public who lead a double life to spill their secrets in brand new series, Alter Egos.

Putting out a casting call on social media, production company MultiStory Media said it is looking for the likes of pro wrestlers working as librarians by day, and truck drivers who turn drag queens out of hours.

The firm, part of ITV Studios and behind series such as Scared of the Dark and All Star Musicals, is urging folk from all walks of life to step into the spotlight if they think they fit the bill.

The show will see them undergo a full transformation on camera.

And it looks like their secrets won’t stay safe for long, as they will be tasked with showing off their hidden personas publicly for the first time.
