'Terrified' Trump's campaign 'is in legitimate freefall right now': former House member

Reacting to the past two weeks as the candidacy of Vice President Kamala Harris has energized the Democratic base and seemingly caught Donald Trump's campaign flatfooted, a former GOP lawmaker claimed the former president is terrified by what the future may hold.

Appearing on MSNBC on Sunday afternoon with host Alex Witt, ex-Rep Dave Jolly (R-FL) claimed the ex-president's campaign continues to show it is in disarray as his inner circle tries to push for an alternative debate hosted by Fox News instead of one already slated for ABC.

Agreeing with his fellow panelists that there could be two debates, Jolly suggested Harris should agree to doing both, but with the Fox News event second to prevent the embattled former president from pulling a fast one and canceling the ABC appearance.

Jolly also suggested Trump is losing support for his re-election at a hectic pace.

The former lawmaker advised Harris to say, "'Okay, let's do two debates. I would do ABC first and I will show up for Fox."

"Donald Trump is terrified, not just because the vice president will win that debate going toe to toe," he continued. " But, Alex, Donald Trump's campaign is in freefall right now. It is a legitimate freefall right now just as Kamala Harris' campaign is soaring. The candidate, Donald Trump, is a disaster, not necessarily his team."

"He is doing nothing right and he is bleeding support right now," he added. "So he wants the showmanship quality to come out and the made-for-tv moment and a Fox News showdown that he believes he can win."

"Be careful what you wish for, Mr. president, it's not that easy," he joked.
