Trump insider shares 'weird theory' that explains ex-president's 'campaign of terror'

A former Donald Trump adviser told MSNBC on Sunday that someone currently with the Trump campaign told her about a "weird theory" than could purportedly explain the former president's recent race-based attacks on Vice President Kamala Harris.

Former adviser to Donald Trump, Omarosa Manigault Newman, explained the situation to the host after being asked if the Trump team is "imploding."

"I talked to a former colleague who still works with the Trump camp who told me a really weird theory and I want to share it with you," she said. "That Donald Trump and his team have come up with this path to 270 that doesn't require him to gain any additional African-American support."

She went on to say that the theory would "explain why he has gone on this campaign of terror, insulting Vice President Kamala Harris, making odd comments about race, and trying to be even more divisive than he has been in the past."

"I mean, if that is their strategy, it is a losing strategy,: Newman added Sunday. "Going after her race was a big mistake for Donald Trump. And I just think he will continue to ratchet it up because he just can't help himself."
