Indian batter Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma are one of the most successful opening pairs in history of ODI cricket and have led India to many victories over the years. The duo of Rohit and Shikhar have scored 5,148 runs together in 115 ODIs, making them the 4th most successful opening [air in PDI cricket.
During a Star Sports show, Dhawan was asked about his favourite opening partner. Dhawan replied by taking Rohit’s name and said that he shares a special bond with him.
“My favourite opening partner is Rohit. Rohit ke saath toh maine yaar 8-10 saal opening kari hai. Rohit ke saath mera bond bhi bahut strong hai (I have opened for 8-10 years with him. My bond with Rohit is very strong). He is a gem of a person. Uske sath bohot opening kari hai (I have opened a lot with him),” Dhawan said.
He further revealed that when they used to bat together, Rohit used to like his singing, especially one particular song.
“Usse bada accha lagta tha jab mei ek gaana gaata tha pitch pe (He used to love it when I sang this one particular song on the pitch), ‘putt jattna de bulaond bakre’, said Dhawan
“So he would look at me and then sing the same sone. It’s one moment that repeated often. He remembered a couple of lines from the song which he used to sing and then laugh,” added Dhawan.
