5-alarm brush fire contained in South Hillsboro, not a threat

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A five-alarm brush fire in South Hillsboro that prompted road closures Sunday afternoon is under control and is no longer a threat, officials said.

Just after 3 p.m., Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue crews responded to the 28500 block of Southwest Laurel Road on reports of the fire.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office closed Southwest Laurel Road at both Southwest Campbell Road and also at Southwest McCormick Hill Road while crews battled the blaze.

Around 5 p.m., fire officials said the fire was no longer a threat.

KOIN 6 News has a crew at the scene and will have more information later.
