1. Sachin Tendulkar – 18,426 runs

The Master Blaster is without a doubt the finest batter in Indian history and arguably the best batter to ever play the game. Tendulkar dominated both in Test and ODI formats but he was arguably better at ODI cricket. There is no guarantee as to whether any Indian batter will be able to break his record of scoring over 18,000 runs in ODIs in the future.

2. Virat Kohli – 13,886 runs

Kohli is definitely the best ODI batter of his era. He is the third highest run-scorer in ODI history only behind Tendulkar and Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara. He is expected to surpass Sangakkara soon as he only needs 348 runs to do so. Kohli has played some absolutely amazing knocks in ODIs that went on to single-handedly carry India to victory on numerous occasions.

3. Sourav Ganguly – 11,221 runs

The Prince of Calcutta wasn’t only an exceptional captain but was also a brilliant run-getter especially in the ODI format. Ganguly led the Indian team to victory in big matches on several occasions. He wasn’t only good with his batting but was also a decent bowler and got a total of 100 wickets in ODIs.

4. Rohit Sharma – 10,831 runs

The hitman has been an exceptional batter for India especially in the last decade. As an opener, he has been one of the main reasons why India have gotten great starts in run chases or while setting up massive scores. He has been great in all the 3 formats of the game. He also came quite close to winning ODI World Cup last year, but unfortunately India got defeated by Australia in the final.

5. Rahul Dravid – 10,768 runs

Famously nicknamed, ‘The Wall’, Dravid was a fantastic batter in both the Test and ODI format. He wasn’t a hard-hitter and rather used to play his innings in a steady manner. He was a big-game player who stepped up against fierce opposing teams. Though he was easily a better player in Test cricket, his prowess in ODIs is something that shouldn’t be ignored by any means.
