THE OLYMPICS are the biggest sporting event in the world, which means it takes a big team to cover them.

The BBC has sent two of the nation’s most loved sports journalists to cover the track cycling.

Co-hosting the commentary for the track cycling at Paris 2024 is Tony Livesey.

Listeners might remember his voice from his Drive show on BBC Radio 5 Live.

Away from his Paris 2024 coverage, he is known for delving into cheeky and outrageous projects.

These include 2005’s Crumpet!: A Very British Sex Symbol and his book called Babes, Booze, Orgies and Aliens: The Inside Story of Sport Newspapers.

Tony also worked as a culture reporter for The One Show and has appeared on late night chat shows, such as Never Mind the Buzzcocks.

Joining Tony, on the commentary panel for track cycling at Paris 2024 is Eleanor Oldroyd.

The broadcaster began her career on BBC Radio Shropshire, working as a sports producer.

She became known as the “First Lady of ‘Fighting Talk'” when she would regularly appear on 5 Live’s show of the same name.

The roving reporter is no stranger to presenting the Olympics as she led the coverage of the 2014 Sochi Winter Games.

Many viewers might remember her as the broadcaster who had the difficult and sad task of covering Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral.

Eleanor sat in a small, specially built studio above the high altar.

She was the only reporter or broadcaster present in St George’s Chapel for the funeral.

Anna Henderson won silver in the women’s time trial.

Another silver went to Kieran Reilly in the men’s BMX freestyle.

STATS MAD

0 – A rule change to the artistic swimming (formerly synchronised swimming) means men are now able to compete in the team event for the first time in Olympics history… but the new legislation only came in 18 months and precisely ZERO males were selected.
