Seven year old dies after almost drowning

A seven-year-old girl died at Makarios hospital in Nicosia on Monday after getting almost drowning in a pool in Protaras on Sunday.

The girl had been found unconscious in the pool at the hotel she was staying in in Protaras with her family.

She was pulled out of the pool, and taken to Famagusta General in an ambulance, where she was given first aid, and was revived.

Police said that she was transferred to Makarios hospital in Nicosia, due to complications. There she was intubated and put on a respirator.

However, around 2am the girl died in the ICU.

Police are investigating the cause of the drowning incident.
