What is TikTok’s ‘just give me my money’ trend?

TikTok’s just give me my money trend is another popular video users are recreating.

The clip involves gathering up your group of friends and each putting in a funny voice.

Each person says “just give me my money” in an accent before the others clap an give them a round of applause.

However, it doesn’t end there as the final person to say the phrase doesn’t receive any applause and instead is met with disappointed looks from their friends.

It’s unknown where the video exactly came from but some think it may have been inspired by a film.

It’s thought that the video first began when streamer Kai Cenat did it in January 2024 alongside rapper DreamDoll during a live stream.

The idea is possibly inspired by the 2002 movie Paid in Full where which the phrase “just give me my money” is repeated several times.

Several celebrities are also turning their hand to the just give me my money TikTok trend.

Actor Will Smith has posted a recreation to his own social media, with his daughter Willow Smith getting involved too.

Will is the butt of the joke this time around as he’s the one at the end of the clip that says the phrase but receives an awkward silence.

Various TikTok stars have jumped on the trend including comedy video star Emily Millar along with her family.

Also jumping on the trend is TikTokkers Benoit Chevalier and Lacy with their friends.

The trend has been met with mixed reactions, with some loving the idea but some not finding very funny.

One TikTok user pointed out: “Call me goody two shoes, but i don’t find the ‘just give me my money’ trend funny. like wdym you find joy in making people feel left out and anxious.”

Whereas another commented: “I did that “just give me my money trend with my friends and mehn I’m dying of laughter.”
