Tottenham Hotspur fans are desperate for success and silverware after waiting since 2008 for a trophy, and Ange Postecoglou thinks the club is moving in the right direction in that respect.

Spurs simply need to do better than last year

With the new Premier League campaign a fortnight away, all eyes are on Tottenham and whether they can add meaningful, game-changing signings to their squad to be able to compete on all fronts this season.

Ange Postecoglou has enjoyed success everywhere he has been in his management career, and when asked about whether that can happen at Spurs too, he had a pragmatic yet positive response.

He told Football.London: “Look, it’s hard to say, because it’s not something I play up. For me, it’s always just about sticking to the process of what I believe are the things that should be put in a place to be successful.”

What’s the plan for Postecoglou?

Postecoglou was keen to highlight the work done last season in his first year in charge, and what the plan is moving forward for his sophomore season with Spurs.

He added: “I think we laid some basic foundations last year, we’re trying to build on them this year, and the one thing you can’t control is the competition, because they’re doing their own thing.

“From our perspective, it’s about building on the foundations of last year, making sure our players are better prepared this year than last for what’s ahead, and we’ll see where that takes us.”

I may be naive and overly optimistic, but I’ve got a really good feeling about the upcoming season for Spurs.

I know we’ve not made the moves we wanted in the transfer market (yet) but the squad just feels stronger and more attuned to what Postecoglou wants, and I genuinely believe we can win something this year.
