A SUPER saloon from a surprise car brand can hit a shocking 161mph – and it can be picked up for under £6,000.
The very cool Vauxhall Vectra VXR is a high-performance version of the well-loved family motor – and these days it’s perhaps rare enough to be considered a future classic.
Produced between 2005 and 2008, the Vectra VXR packs plenty of punch thanks to a corking turbo V6 engine.
Quick around corners with plenty of grip, few cars – then or now – could hit the heights of the Vectra VXR for its price of under £30,000.
A review from Autoexpress sums it nicely, writing in 2005: “With a 161mph top speed, the only other four-door Vauxhall to have gone quicker than the new Vectra VXR is the legendary Lotus Carlton.”
At the time, the Vectra VXR’s main rivals were the legendary Ford Mondeo ST and the Mazda 6 MPS – although it’s arguable that the Vectra had slightly more style.
