Past series have seen Jamie Redknapp and Jill Scott face off, with Micah Richards and Mo Gilligan joining their teams.

The BAFTA-winning sports comedy series welcomes star guests from the worlds of sport, comedy, and television to the red and blue teams each week, who compete for points awarded in three rounds.

The last time the teams were together was for the travel spin off as the groups took to Mexico for ‘A League Of Their Own: Mexico Road Trip’.

The show’s synopsis reads: “The gang are back and joined by a host of special guests from the world of sport, comedy, and television.

“Expect more challenges, more hair-brained stunts, and more podium-topping comedy than ever before.

“Featuring some of the biggest names in comedy and sport, each team will tackle questions on major stories as well as uncovering the quirkier side of our national obsession.

“Further enlivened by a series of physical challenges!”

A League Of Their Own will film late August, with audience tickets available via Applause Store and with the production taking place at the BBC’s Elstree Studios in Borehamwood.

The series is expected to air in Autumn via Sky and NOW.

The series first began in 2010 and was fronted by James Corden for thirteen series before Romesh took over.

The series will join Romesh’s busy schedule as the comedian has been announced as the new presenter for Art Attack, as he takes over the cult favourite art show from Neil Buchanan who presented it up until it ended in 2007.

Romesh also confirmed his series Avoidance has been axed by the BBC after two series.

Speaking to Tom Davis on his podcast, the comedian said: ‘Thankfully the commissioners have taken care of that for me.’

To which Tom replied with: “How come you didn’t do a third series of that sitcom?” and Romesh responded with: “Oh cause we just thought the story was told.”

He added: “We’re following the Office model – just like two and done.”
