As an official partner of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Air France has been mobilizing for several weeks now to welcome sports delegations, media and fans to the world’s biggest sporting event.

At this stage, the airline has carried more than 9,000 accredited guests (athletes, sports delegations and press) representing over 150 of the 206 total nationalities present at the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Then, 1 in 3 accredited guests who have already arrived in Paris by air have travelled on Air France.

The peak in arrivals occurred on July 25, 2024, the day before the Opening Ceremony, with almost 1,000 accredited persons carried on a single day. 90% of all accredited guests arrived at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Αirport, Air France’s global hub. Of note: the first delegations of Paralympic athletes have also begun arriving in France to warm up before the official start of the competition.

In terms of overall numbers, the delegations from Japan, Switzerland, and the United States were the most represented on board Air France’s aircraft.

While the bulk of the delegations converged on Paris ahead of the Opening Ceremony on July 26, arrivals are continuing at a steady pace as the Olympic events progress.

In addition, the airline is already preparing for the athletes’ departure at the end of the competitions. Unlike arrivals, which have been gradual, the departures are expected to be concentrated over a period of 24 to 48 hours following the Closing Ceremony. Peak departures are expected on August 12.

A dedicated check-in facility for athletes and delegations within the Olympic and Paralympic Village

To ensure a seamless experience for all customers – whether traveling to the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games or not – Air France has helped set up a dedicated system for athletes and delegations at the heart of the Olympic and Paralympic Village.

Athletes and delegations will be able to check their luggage the day before departure directly at the Village and will use a dedicated route to and from the airport. Open over the span of three days surrounding the Closing Ceremonies (August 11 for the Olympic Games, and September 8 for the Paralympic Games), this off-site check-in system (or OAP for Off-Airport Process) will mobilize up to 125 Air France ground staff who will check in baggage for delegations travelling on Air France and its partner airlines.
