Charlotte Dawson spent son’s first birthday in tears after Matt ‘ruins the big day and fails to show up’
CHARLOTTE Dawson has been left heartbroken and in tears as her fiance Matt Sarsfield “ruined” their son’s first birthday – following his texting scandal.
It came just hours after rugby star Matt, 32, was accused of sending “dirty texts” to another woman.
Over the weekend, Charlotte, 31, threw a party for their son Jude – but Matt was nowhere to be seen – leaving the TV star devastated.
A source told The Sun: “Matt has walked out on Charlotte and the kids after she confronted him about his texts to another woman.
“She thought he would show up for Jude’s birthday but he didn’t show up.
“Not surprisingly Charlotte was very upset all day, there were lots of tears but her friends and family were rallying around her,” they said.
“Thankfully she was surrounded with her friends and family to support her through the day and to see that Jude had the best first birthday.”
“It was pretty awkward, everyone was talking about it and supporting her as much as they could.
“Charlotte really feels like the party was ruined by it all and it was all just very upsetting.”
While another source said that Charlotte put on a brave face as she celebrated the special day with her loved ones.
“Charlotte has always put her children and family first, and whilst she is upset with Matt’s actions, she was even more upset that he failed to put his children before his actions,” they told us.
“Thankfully she was surrounded with her friends and family to support her through the day and to see that Jude had the best first birthday.”
The Sun have contacted a rep for Charlotte.
The Ex On The Beach star, who is also mum to their son Noah, vowed to put her heartache to one side and give Jude the best day.
She wore an elegant lace off-the-shoulder baby blue dress paired with blue heels adorned with a bow.
She decorated the venue with cartoon-like signposts, plants, stacks of hay, and an adorable balloon arch leading to mini play slides.
A source yesterday told The Sun: “It was really important for Charlotte to give her son Jude a wonderful first birthday, despite what she had discovered that day.
“She is an incredible mother, who has always put her two sons before anything else.
“Jude’s party was a prime example of her doing this and showing everyone how brave she is.”
It came after her pals claimed sports star Matt sent intimate and “dirty” messages to a mystery woman – leaving his relationship in tatters.
Charlotte has been engaged to her partner Matt since September 2020.
She has two sons, Noah and Jude, with Matt.
A source close to Charlotte told the Mirror: “Naturally, friends are angry that Charlotte has been publicly humiliated by Matt’s actions.
“Such behaviour affects the whole family, particularly their two young sons.
“She’s been completely blindsided by these revelations.
“To say she is hurt is an understatement, and it’s unclear where the relationship lies at the moment.
“Right now, Charlotte is trying to get her head around his actions.
“She’s always stood by Matt, despite some ups and downs in their relationship, and Matt is not just her fiancé, he’s her best mate so this news has been a very hard pill to swallow.”
