Tottenham will not be signing Conor Gallagher

Spurs appear set to face defeat in their efforts to land Gallagher, with a number of outlets reporting that the midfielder is on the cusp of sealing a move to Atletico.

This includes a recent update by HITC, who revealed that a deal worth £40m has been agreed for the 24-year-old between the Premier League side and the La Liga outfit.

The report further added that the England international never seriously considered moving to Spurs because of his connections with Chelsea.

Failed hijack attempts for Gallagher

Romano has now taken to social media to reveal that two English clubs tried to swoop in and steal Gallagher from under Atletico’s noses.

However, he explains that the Chelsea academy graduate never really considered moving to another Premier League side and was instead willing to sign a two-year deal with his boyhood side if the move to Atletico collapsed.

The journalist added that Gallagher has now agreed personal terms with Diego Simeone’s men, with only the final details left to be ironed out before his move to the Spanish capital.

Spurs Web Opinion

If the Tottenham hierarchy did not feel Gallagher was open to a switch, one does wonder why they would have chased him for nearly 12 months.

Perhaps the midfielder changed his mind once Atletico entered the race.
